    Army Sustainment Command names new commanding general

    The U.S. Army Sustainment Command (ASC) is getting a new commanding general during a change of command ceremony on Memorial Field on July 19 at 2:30 p.m.

    Brig. Gen. John “Brad” Hinson will take command of ASC from Maj. Gen. David Wilson during the ceremony. Lt. Gen. Chris Mohan, the deputy commanding general and acting commander of the U.S. Army Materiel Command, ASC’s higher headquarters, will preside over the event.

    As the commanding general of ASC, the primary logistics and supply hub for the U.S. Army, Hinson will ensure soldiers stationed around the world have the right equip­ment at the right place and time, in the right condition. He will be ASC’s 13th commanding general since the command was established in October 2006. He will also serve as senior commander of Rock Island Arsenal.

    Hinson’s military education includes the Combined Logistics Advanced Course, the Air Force Command and General Staff College and the Eisenhower School, National Defense University. He holds master’s degrees from the Air University and Eisenhower School National Defense University. His combat deployments include three deployments to Iraq/Syria and four deployments to Afghanistan.

    Hinson’s most recent role was as the commanding general of the 3rd Expeditionary Sustainment Command and assistant commanding general-Sustainment of the XVIII Airborne Corps in Fort Liberty, North Carolina. He was commissioned into the Quartermaster Corps after graduating from Northwestern State University in 1992.

    Wilson has been nominated for appointment to the grade of lieutenant general, with assignment as deputy chief of staff, G-9 (Installations) for the Headquarters of the Department of the Army at the Pentagon in Washington, DC.
