Looks like MGK is going country... or something of the sort. Today, Machine Gun Kelly, who now goes by simply “MGK,” shared a teaser on Instagram featuring his friend Jelly Roll that interpolates part of John Denver's iconic song and country standard, "Take Me Home, Country Roads" They shared a short video with it too, which is seemingly from a forthcoming music video, with an almost-exact melody as Denver's and similar lyrics that go:
"Take me home, lonely road." I'll be honest, I'm really skeptical about it with the Denver aspect of it all, because it's dangerous for any artist to use the music of any legend, especially when it's not even a true country artist in this case, because it's just so hard to pull off and do it really well, never mind even doing it justice. But, I'm willing to give it a chance and listen to what they've come up with: "Countdown to KellyRoll activated. Thanks to John Denver for paving the way." I guess we can expect something from the duo known as KellyRoll sometime soon? Stay tuned... https://www.instagram.com/reel/C9k0_9Gyxbq/?igsh=Njd2NzhsM2p2dHNq And in terms of MGK "going country," in June, he shared a cover of Zach Bryan's "Sun to Me,"
which had fans intrigued and thinking he might want to dive into the genre. He was also on the lineup for Spotify House at Ole Road in, even performing a cover of The Chicks’ “There’s Your Trouble.” To be really honest, I don’t know too much about MGK and his music other than that he got started in hip hop and had some beef with Eminem, and also that he was engaged to Megan Fox (or maybe still is? I couldn’t figure out if they’re still together or not and I majorly digress… ) and has made headlines for some odd antics with her in the past. And considering how many pop artists have been dabbling in country this year, from Beyoncé to Post Malone , and even Yung Gravy in
some very strange form or fashion , it's not surprising at all to see MGK get in on it too. Honestly, the cover wasn't bad at all and I actually enjoyed his interpretation of it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ZnbTEs4O6U&embeds_referring_euri=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.whiskeyriff.com%2F&source_ve_path=MjM4NTE
