Surprising Giants Playmaker Gets ‘Most Undervalued’ Title

For the last six seasons, the New York Giants offense revolved around running back Saquon Barkley. In 2024, that will have to change.

Hitting free agency for the first time in his career, Barkley departed. He left the Giants, signing a lucrative three-year contract with their NFC East rivals, the Philadelphia Eagles.

Replacing a player of Barkley’s caliber will take a complete team effort. New York could shift to more of a passing team, as their biggest addition this offseason came at wide receiver.

With the No. 6 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, the Giants selected LSU star Malik Nabers. His presence should help the entire unit, as Nabers has all of the tools to develop into a No. 1 receiver at the next level.

But, someone needs to take over as the team’s lead back as well. The player who will receive the first crack at that is Devin Singletary.

He was signed in free agency after one season with the Houston Texans. It was a highly productive one, as he rushed for a career-high 898 yards.

Singletary scored four rushing touchdowns, adding 30 receptions for 198 yards. Heading into the 2024 season, he is someone that Gary Davenport of Bleacher Report believes is undervalued in the Fantasy Football world.

“Singletary finished as RB32 last year—in a season when he didn’t have 15 carries until Week 10. With little competition for touches, a healthy Singletary is going to blow past his modest asking price,” Davenport wrote.

Currently, the veteran running back is the 32nd running back coming off the board. His average draft position in Fantasy Football drafts currently sits at 109th.

That is a number that will assuredly be on the rise in the coming weeks. When taking a look at depth charts around the NFL, Singletary is far from the worst starting running back, as his draft position would seemingly suggest.

Things were ugly for the Giants in 2023 when it came to offensive production for several reasons. Chief among them was abysmal offensive line play, which should be improved in 2024.

With better performance in the trenches, the entire offense will take a step forward. There is certainly a risk in trusting a running back in an offense led by Daniel Jones, but Singletary has a solid floor for Fantasy Football managers to rely on.
