It kicked off July 18 to mixed results, as some of the tournament’s top golfers, including Rory McIlroy, Bryson DeChambeau , and Tiger Woods got off to rocky starts, thanks to a difficult course and a ‘diabolical’ par-3 hole .

The 2024 Open Championship is being played at Royal Troon Golf Club in Troon, South Ayrshire, Scotland. Royal Troon Golf Club is hosting the British Open for the 10th time.

    Golfers to watch:

After round one, Justin Thomas was the leader at 3-under. The course has proven difficult thus far as Bryson DeChambeau and Rory McIlroy, who battled to the final hole of the U.S. Open last month, both had “frustrating” first rounds that leave them in danger of being cut after round 2 tomorrow. Ahead of the first round, Scottie Scheffler was also considered a favorite to win — as he was in the rest of this season’s majors.
