Two young sailing victims identified; father still missing

OCONTO — The Brown County Medical Examiner’s Office on Tuesday conducted autopsies on the two deceased victims that were recovered on Monday south of Chambers Island in the waters of Green Bay, in the town of Gibraltar.

The victims have been positively identified as 5-year-old Charlotte M. Salnik and 3-year-old Joshua F. Salnik. Search efforts continue in an attempt to locate their father, Billy J. Salnik, 32, who remains missing. Door County Sheriff’s Office will continue conducting drone searches and will start with K9 assisted marine searches. All search operations will continue with no plans to suspend until further notice, according to the Oconto County Sheriff’s Office.

This incident is still under investigation.

The father and his children went missing Saturday while sailing on the bay of Green Bay.
