'NCIS' Alum Pauley Perrette Sends 'Frustrated' Warning to Fans

Pauley Perrette is clapping back at the “scammers” who impersonate celebrities like her online.

The NCIS alum said in a video she posted on Instagram that she has been impersonated several times, with fans and personal connections alike impacted by those responsible for the fake social media profiles.

“I am so frustrated right now,” Perrette, who played forensic scientist Abby Sciuto on the military police procedural for 15 seasons, said in her video message on Tuesday, July 16. She gave a slight shake of her head while lounging in a green swing outside, fiddling with her colorful reverse ombre hair as she began recounting a recent message she received from a fan on Cameo. She identified the social media platform as the only one on which she engages with people she does not know.

The fan shared what the actress described as a “terrible story” about their family member “who has been scammed by someone who’s saying that they’re me.” Perrette, 55, then shared that her pastor had also recently received a friend request from someone claiming to be her on Facebook, a platform on which she does not have an account.

Perrette growled in frustration. “I don’t get it,” she said before quickly clarifying, “I mean, I don’t get why anybody wants to impersonate someone else, but what I do get is that this is dangerous. And they are asking people for money. So I’m gonna say it again, y’all: I am not on Facebook.”

Perrette closed out her warning message by reiterating the one way that fans can communicate with her before apologizing for the confusion that impersonators cause.

“The only place where I talk to people, where I will respond to someone that I don’t know, is on Cameo. And that’s it. And I’m really sorry if somebody’s messed with y’all.”

The caption accompanying Perrette’s video also echoed her warning to fans as she noted that “so many people” have been impersonating her. “I am so sorry that this is happening to so many of you,” she wrote. “From just communicating with a ‘Fake Pauley’ to those who have been scammed out of money by a ‘Fake Pauley’. It’s AWFUL.”
