The Indiana Fever played their final game before the WNBA All-Star break, falling to the Dallas Wings in a 101-93 loss on July 17. Following the matchup, former WNBA All-Star Odyssey Sims shared her thoughts on Fever rookie Caitlin Clark.

In the loss to the Wings, Clark recorded one of her best stat lines of the season, posting 24 points and 19 assists.

She secured the WNBA record for the most assists in a single game in league history.

Sims highlighted Clark's playmaking ability in the postgame press conference, showing high praise for the rookie out of Iowa.

"Everybody's been watching Caitlin [Clark]; she's a great player," Sims said. "She's playing at a very high level, especially with her assists. There was a lot of shots she turned down because she was looking for her teammates. That just speaks volumes of how she is as a player. Don't know her as a person, but she's a great player... Got nothing but respect for her."

During the 2024 season, Clark averaged 17.1 points and 8.2 assists per game. The Fever are currently No. 7 in the WNBA rankings with an 11-15 record.

The top eight teams in the WNBA rankings make the playoffs, so Clark could be looking at a postseason appearance in just her first season in Indiana.

Following the matchup against the Wings, Clark headed to Phoenix, Arizona, for the WNBA All-Star game. She'll be accompanied by Aliyah Boston and Kelsey Mitchell, as the Fever are well represented at the event.

Veterans like Sims have shown respect for the 22-year-old star all season, sharing their admiration for a player who's lifted the game of women's basketball.
