    KENTUCKY ( FOX 56 ) — It’s the time of year for a good, old-fashioned mullet competition.

Business in the front, charity in the back. That’s what the USA Mullet Championship is all about, and five Kentucky boys believe they have what it takes to be crowned “Mullet Champ USA.”

Every year, the USA Mullet Championship scours the nation for the “wildest mullets out there.” Participants go head-to-head to raise money for Homes for Wounded Warriors.

The rankings are based on three factors: public and judge votes, celebrity endorsements, and the amount of money raised for Jared Allen’s Homes for Wounded Warriors.

“This year’s competition is all about celebrating the boldest and most daring hairdos in the nation, with contestants vying for the coveted title of Mullet Champ,” officials said.

Thursday is the final day for round one voting and donations, and votes close at 11:59 p.m. Round one results will cut the competition down to 100 competitors for a spot in the final Mullet Showdown.
