Jake Tapper Compares Biden to Famous Movie Character Who Doesn’t Know He’s Dead: ‘Unaware of His Grim Fate’

CNN’s Jake Tapper dropped a brutal movie reference on President Joe Biden while discussing the drama threatening to upend the presidential race.

Biden, who is home in Delaware isolating after testing positive for Covid-19, has faced mounting calls to step down from Democratic lawmakers and donors after he turned in a poor debate performance three weeks ago. The president also gave shaky and at times inaudible responses to questions in subsequent interviews, leading to serious concerns among Democrats about his ability to defeat former President Donald Trump and serve another term.

Congressional Democratic leaders including Sen. Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) have reportedly urged Biden in private to drop his reelection bid. Meanwhile, Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) wrote to Biden earlier this month pleading with him to step aside by comparing him to a tired Pedro Martinez who imploded late in Game 7 of the 2003 American League Championship Series.

Tapper offered a far more morbid comparison during Thursday’s edition of The Lead .

“Meanwhile, events no less momentous are playing out in Delaware where President Biden is self-isolating after testing positive for Covid, we’re told,” the host said. “To hear top Democrats tell it, President Biden is like Bruce Willis’ character in the movie The Sixth Sense . He is the only one who seems unaware of his grim fate.”

Wills’ character in the film is Malcolm Crowe, a psychologist who does not know he is dead until the end of the film. (And no, no spoiler alert because it has been 25 years since the film’s release.)

“Former President Obama has told allies recently that Biden’s chances of winning have greatly diminished,” Tapper continued. “Interesting choice of words.”
