After accepting the position as president and CEO of Memorial Health in April of this year, Kevin England has decided to step down from the role of future president due to unexpected health concerns.

In an update regarding the succession plan, president and CEO of Memorial Health Ed Curtis said England is turning his focus to the well-being of himself and his family.

England, who has been with Memorial for over 30 years, was set to become president of the organization this month. England had planned to focus on implementing new technology for physicians to keep visitor records up to date. England will return to his prior role as Memorial Health’s senior vice president and chief administrative officer.

Curtis, who plans to retire in 2025, will remain president and CEO until the Memorial Health Board of Directors names a successor to begin the role of President at Memorial.

“While I was sorry to hear this news, it isn’t surprising that Kevin who has always led selflessly, is putting the needs of the organization first,” Curtis said in an internal message to the organization. “I have asked him to continue to serve Memorial in his previous role of senior vice president and chief administrative officer.”

Before his role as succeeding president and senior vice president, England was previously responsible for strategic planning, business development, supply chain, community benefit and information activities in the hospital system.

The Board of Directors has already begun moving forward with an external search for the next president.
