I'll be real with you, I love Renaissance fairs. Every year, when the big one near me opens up, I'm there, sometimes going for multiple visits if I can find the time. It's a fun way to visit the past (obviously a very idealized, palatable version of it, but still) and play pretend even as a grown-up.

But what if you wanted to take your medieval play-pretend even further. If you're in England - or planning a visit there - then I've got just the thing for you. You may have heard of "glamping," but chances are, you've never glamped at an authentic, 1,000-year-old castle before!

This glamping experience is held at Warwick Castle ( @warwickcastleofficial on TikTok) in Warwick, England. According to their official website, Warwick Castle was built by William the Conqueror , who reigned over England nearly 1,000 years ago. The castle continued to play an important part in British history throughout the Middle Ages and still stands strong today. It doesn't get much more medieval than that, and with their medieval glamping experience , you can fully immerse yourself into the castle's long history!

    Knight's Village Glamping

Enter Knight's Village , the official medieval glamping grounds at Warwick Castle. Knight's Village has 37 glamping tents designed to look like authentic medieval canvas tents, such as you might find near a battleground or jousting tournament in days of yore.

If you're worried about missing the comforts of the modern age, though, fear not - this is glamping, after all. The standard Warwick tents each come with a double bed, two singles, and a storage chest, while the six King's tents amp up the luxury with a four-poster bed, two singles, and - best of all- an outdoor canopy with a table and thrones for your royal party.

Both tent styles come with free car parking, power hook-ups, and unlimited Wi-Fi, so you can stay in contact with the modern world while you travel back to the past.

A glamping package in either the standard or King's tent includes complimentary continental breakfast at Knight's Village Restaurant (fashioned after a medieval banquet hall), knight-themed evening entertainment and interactive activities for the whole family, one-day entry tickets to Warwick Castle, and discounted second-day entry. You can see why I'd flip for this as a Renaissance fair lover, and I suspect I'm not alone.

The rates depend a lot on the date, but during my cursory check, I saw per-night prices ranging from £269 (~$348 USD) to £169 (~$218). It's not the cheapest glamping experience out there, but it's by no means the most expensive either, and considering all the extras that come with your glamping package, I'd say it's a pretty sweet deal.

The Warwick Castle's glamping experience seems to be seasonal, with no dates available past early September. Luckily, you don't have to wait until next summer for an overnight visit. The Knight's Village also has rustic lodges for year-round stays, or, if you really want the royal treatment, you can even stay at the Warwick Castle Hotel on the castle grounds. That gets a hearty "huzzah" from me!
