NORTH DAKOTA ( KXNET ) — If you have a love of nature and a passion for wildlife photography, then the North Dakota Game and Fish Department (NDGF) is looking for some eye-catching photos to showcase in their North Dakota Outdoors magazine.

Their Watchable Wildlife Photo Contest is now open and they will accept any wildlife photos taken in North Dakota.

People can enter their photos in three categories: game animals, non-game animals, and insects/plants.

NDGF Conservation Biologist, Patrick Isakson says this is the 25th Year of the contest and that in recent years they have received so many great photos that they decided to expand it.

“It originally started as a way to pick a photo for our ‘Watchable Wildlife Tax Check-Off Poster,’ but over the years we were getting so many good photos and now we just use it as a way to get people out and promote our wildlife in North Dakota,” said Isakson.

Isakson adds that this year, they are only accepting digital photos, and the deadline to submit them is October 1.

The winning entries will be published in the January 2025 issue of North Dakota Outdoors, and the top photographers will each receive a complimentary issue of the magazine with their published photos.

You can visit the NDGF website for more information on the contest and photo submission rules.
