TVLine has learned that Paramount+, which launched Halo in March 2022 and premiered a second season this February, will not be ordering a third season of the Pablo Schreiber-led video game adaptation.
“We are extremely proud of this ambitious series,” Paramount+ said in a statement, “and would like to thank our partners at Xbox, 343 Industries and Amblin Television, along with showrunner and executive producer David Wiener, his fellow executive producers, the entire cast led by Pablo Schreiber as Master Chief and the amazing crew for all their outstanding work. We wish everyone the best going forward.”
And go forward, they just might, seeing as TVLine hears that Amblin Television, Xbox and 343 Industries are shopping Halo Season 3 elsewhere, with Paramount+’s blessing.
“We deeply appreciate the millions of fans who propelled the Halo series to be a global success and we remain committed to broadening the Halo universe in different ways in the future,” says a statement from 343 Industries. “We are grateful to Amblin and Paramount for their partnership in bringing our expansive sci-fi universe to viewers around the world.”
Halo starred Schreiber as Master Chief/Spartan-117 and Natascha McElhone as Dr. Halsey, both of whom also served as producers for Season 2. Additional cast members included Jen Taylor as Cortana, Bokeem Woodbine, Shabana Azmi, Natasha Culzac, Olive Gray, Yerin Ha, Bentley Kalu, Kate Kennedy, Charlie Murphy and Danny Sapani.
Would you like to see TV’s Halo series live on, by finding a new home elsewhere? Or were you satisfied with the two seasons you got?
