Fantasy experts at NHL.com released their Top 200 fantasy hockey players list for the 2024-25 season. Despite missing the Stanley Cup Playoffs last season, the new-look New Jersey Devils are poised for a bounce-back season and have seven skaters on the list.
After his Conn Smythe Trophy performance, Connor McDavid takes first overall, followed by Hart Trophy winner Nathan MacKinnon in second.
The only two Metropolitan Division skaters ahead of Jack Hughes at 14th are Artemi Panarin (7th) and Sidney Crosby (10th).
Interestingly, Jack is slotted one spot behind his brother Quinn, the reigning Norris Trophy winner. Jack finished last season with 74 points in 62 games despite missing time due to injuries.
Hughes is the only Devils skater to make it into the Top 50 since Jesper Bratt (60th) and Dougie Hamilton (67th) are the next teammates on the list.
Bratt played all 82 games for the second consecutive season and scored a career-high 83 points. Meanwhile, Hamilton didn't skate after November 28, suffering a season-ending injury. In 20 games, he had five goals and 16 points.
Newcomer Jacob Markstrom (86th) ranked as the 13th-highest netminder on the list, finishing last season with a 23-23-2 record in 48 games. He was undoubtedly the MVP of the Calgary Flames and will bring his talents to Newark for the 2024-25 campaign.
Out of the Top 100 players, there were five New Jersey players, including Timo Meier , who pulled up the rear at No. 100. During his first entire season with the Devils, he tallied 52 points in 69 games despite a team-worse minus-28 rating.
Surprisingly, captain Nico Hischier slipped down to 106th overall. As another forward who missed some time, he scored 67 points in 71 games, the second-highest total of his seven-year career.
Finally, Calder Trophy finalist Luke Hughes made the cut at 137th overall, completing the brothers' trifecta in the Top 200. As a 20-year-old, he compiled 47 points in 82 games, filling a massive hole in the lineup after Hamilton went down with his injury.
