Eleven people, including 10 children, were transported to a hospital following a crash between a school bus and minivan in Racine County.

The Kansasville Fire and Rescue Department Chief Ronald Molnar said the crash took place at about 12:15 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of Sunnyside Drive and Church Road in the town of Dover.

Forty-six children and five adults were aboard the school bus, which was on the way to a summer camp roller-skating event, Molnar said. The minivan was occupied by an adult driver and three children. All four people declined further medical treatment or ambulance transport, Molnar said.

The Rochester Volunteer Fire Company, Norway Fire Department and Union Grove-Yorkville Fire Department responded to assist with transporting 10 children and one adult to an area hospital. All those transported suffered injuries "that were not believed to be life-threatening," Molnar said.

The other children were either picked up by their parents or transported from the scene by another bus.

The Racine County Sheriff's Office is investigating the cause of the crash. "Fortunately, the injuries sustained were not more serious," KFRD Battalion Chief John Dahms said. "All emergency responders worked closely together and did a very efficient job in response to the complex and fluid situation. It's what we do."
