‘Cobra Kai’ Season 6, Part 1 Ending Explained: How Will Mr. Miyagi’s Past and Tory’s Future Impact Part 2 and Beyond?

We have some exciting news for Cobra Kai fans who are on a karate high after devouring Part 1 of the final season. Netflix revealed that the next chapter of your favorite action comedy will premiere two weeks earlier than its previously announced release date! You’ll now be able to binge Cobra Kai Season 6, Part 2 (Episodes 6-10) on Friday, November 15.

“You heard it here first. Send it to the internet,” showrunners Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz, and Hayden Schlossberg said. “November 15. Same day as Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson. Netflix Fight Night. No undercard. Two main events. Let’s do it.”

Before we turn our attention to Part 2, let’s take a look back at that shocking conclusion from Cobra Kai Season 6, Part 1.

Season 6, Episode 5 (“Best of the Best”) packed a punch. Robby defeated Miguel to become the men’s captain of Miyagi-Do’s Sekai Taikai team, and Samantha and Tory were in the midst of competing to be the captain of the women’s team.

Unfortunately, before the fight, Tory’s mom died. Daniel stops the bout when he hears the news, angering both Tory and Johnny. Tory quits Miyagi-Do, and Daniel and Johnny end up getting into an argument.

Johnny insults Mr. Miyagi, calling him a liar and a thief. Daniel punches Johnny, resulting in the former Eagle Fang sensei saying he’s done with Daniel after they finish coaching the kids at the tournament.

It’s announced that Hawk will replace Tory as he joins Miguel, Robby, Samantha, Demetri, and Devon on Team Miyagi-Do at the Sekai Taikai. But it wouldn’t be Cobra Kai without a twist!

The final shot of Part 1 reveals that Tory has reunited with Sensei Kreese and rejoined Cobra Kai. Tory’s departure will certainly impact Team Miyagi-Do’s morale, especially considering her romance with Robby and fraught friendship with Sam.

Miyagi-Do enters the Sekai Taikai in turmoil. There’s bad blood between Daniel and Johnny, Devon feels guilty about how she earned her spot, and Hawk and Demetri are at odds. Not to mention they’re about to take on the unstoppable karate machine known as KWON . In other words…

One of the biggest questions heading into the final season centered around Mr. Miyagi’s mysterious box that was teased in the trailer. In Season 6, Episode 3 (“Sleeper”), Daniel, Chozen, and Amanda uncover a container filled with Mr. Miyagi’s possessions, which include boxing gloves, coins from China, an old newspaper article from 1947 detailing a violent crime perpetrated by a man named “Keisuke Miyagi,” and a passport with the same name and a birthdate from 1918.

Mr. Miyagi’s full name is Nariyoshi Miyagi ( well that’s one of his names ), and he was born in 1924.

The mystery deepens after they go to the address on the passport, a boxing gym, and talk to a shady character named Shane (played by the great Tony Cavalero from The Righteous Gemstones ) who says that Mr. Miyagi was a silent partner in his grandfather’s boxing gym. While his granddad spoke very highly of Miyagi, Shane seemingly confirmed that Miyagi was the perpetrator mentioned in the article and that he stole a pricey necklace before fleeing America.

We’re sure there’s a lot more to this story. Perhaps there’s someone from Mr. Miyagi’s past — cough, cough, Julie Pierce — who could help shed some light on this mystery for Daniel? At the beginning of The Next Karate Kid , Miyagi is introduced as “Sergeant Kesuke Miyagi.” It’s spelled Kesuke (as opposed to the passport’s “Keisuke” spelling) on IMDd but, still, the multiple names leave us with more questions than answers.

The final Miyagi-related mystery seems to give us one of the reasons Daniel’s mentor was so vehemently opposed to tournaments in The Karate Kid and The Karate Kid III : Mr. Miyagi competed in the Sekai Taikai. And judging by the blood found on his bandana, it was a pretty gruesome fight.

November 15 can’t arrive soon enough.
