    Trump signals support of JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon as possible Treasury secretary

    The Republican nominee for president, Donald Trump, said he would "consider" JPMorgan CHase CEO Jamie Dimon for Treasury secretary if the former president is elected to office for a second term in the White House. Trump made the remarks in a sweeping interview on his vision for the U.S. economy when he spoke to Bloomberg Businessweek .

    In excerpts of the interview reported on by outlets including Axios, Trump said he is aware of Dimon's interest in supporting the likely winner of the 2024 U.S. presidential race.

    Trump said, "Whoever's leading gets all the support they want. I could have the personality of a shrimp, and everybody would come," Axios reported .

    Trump indicated he would allow current U.S. Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell serve out his term at the central bank.

    The former president also indicated strong support for including Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin in a possible second Trump administration. Gov. Youngkin was previously with prominent global investment firm the Carlyle Group.

    In April, Dimon told investors he continued to expect the U.S. economy to perform resiliently amid ongoing speculation about an impending recession. He expressed concern over the war in Ukraine and the Israel-Hamas conflict, along with polarization in U.S. politics.
