(WOWK) — The drought is worse in many areas of the WOWK-TV viewing area than it was last week according to the latest United States Drought Monitor.

Areas that were not listed last week in the Tri-State area are now listed as Abnormally Dry. Areas that were in the Abnormally Dry category are now in the Moderate Drought area. Severe drought areas extend from the Mid Ohio Valley into the West Virginia high terrain and the Eastern Panhandle area of West Virginia is now listed in the Extreme Drought category.

Multiple rounds of rain are expected with some rain Saturday and again just about every day in the coming week thanks to more humidity and instability in the atmosphere. This should provide some areas with at least a little relief but won’t likely entirely break the drought.
