TANEY COUNTY, Mo.-Residents and business owners in Taney County are cleaning up today after heavy rains yesterday caused major flooding.

As the water has receded today, People are getting a sense of exactly what needs to be done.

On Highway 76 near Lakeshore Drive, crews have been working since the rain stopped yesterday to get a temporary fix done and open the road to passing traffic.

Yesterday, Taney County was hit with nearly eight inches of rain in just a short period of time, causing damage to homes, vehicles and roadways.

Scott Flaneling is from the Ozarks and a manager at Natural State Towing.  He told us about some of the damage he had seen.

“I’ve seen pictures he’s posted and our vehicles and trailers just upside down and just it’s just a mess. So I think it’s really great that people are coming together and trying to help,” Flaneling said.

Natural State Towing is just one business offering their services to those in need.

“We’ve got the trucks and the means to recover the vehicles in the creek, out of the creek, wherever they’re at,” Flaneling said. “We’ve got a wide range of vehicles and in recovery vehicles.“

During yesterday’s flooding, they were sent to a vehicle recovery, but they are also offering help navigating insurance claims.

“Then along with that is we write reports on stuff that we turn around insurance entrance so the insurance knows what they’re paying for,” Flaneling said. “Then on the flip side of that is, you know, not everybody has insurance, so i can point people in the right direction.”

While crews have finished the temporary fix, MODOT will go back in later for a permanent repair.
