    LUMBERTON — Robeson County will see a series of summer thunderstorms through the weekend according to National Weather Service forecasters.

    Friday is expected to bring a 50% chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 11 a.m. with patchy fog before 9 a.m. Otherwise, skies will be partly sunny, with a high near 90. Showers and thunderstorms are likely before 11 p.m., then forecasters are calling or a 70% chance of showers and possibly a thunderstorm between 11 p.m. and 2 a.m. Skies will be mostly cloudy with a low around 73.

    Saturday will bring showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 2 p.m. Skies will be mostly cloudy, with a high near 91, according to NWS forecasters. The heat index values will be as high as 103. The chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
