The wait is Joe-ver. On Friday, Joe Jonas officially released “Work It Out,” his first solo single in over 10 years, off his upcoming album Music for People Who Believe in Love .

The track, he said in a statement, sees him reflecting on “life from a bird’s-eye view acknowledging the many blessings around me.” He described the track as a “celebration of gratitude, hope, and love” since it touches on his experience as a father and finding happiness “in doing what I love for a living.”

“Come on, Joe, you got so much more to be grateful for/Stop being sad ’cause you’re makin’ the room uncomfortable,” Jonas sings on the opening verse, while the chorus hears him declare: “No, nobody’s gonna save you now/No, nobody’s gonna pull you out/Brush your shouldеrs off/Life’s gonna work it out.”

Jonas officially announced the new era earlier this week, telling Jake Shane on Therapuss that he wrote the song with Blush and Jason Evigan “pretty quickly.”

“Sometimes you realize that you have to shake yourself out of something and you’re the only person that’s going to fix it for yourself,” he told the podcast host about the song. “No one’s gonna come save you. It’s emotional lyrics with fun music.”

Jonas also told Shane that “Work It Out” was initially meant to be a Jonas Brothers song, but he realized the song was a lot more personal to his own experience.

“I asked my brothers’ blessings, and I was like, ‘Hey, I wanna go work on — I don’t wanna call it solo, but I want to go do something on my own, and I don’t feel like it’s DNCE, and I need to go just express some stuff for myself,'” Jonas said. “And they’re like, ‘Go for it.'”

Jonas has been teasing solo music for several months. Back in March, he shared a TikTok of himself in the studio with the caption, “The way I would’ve bodied this trend if I weren’t in the studio working on something new.”

The song is the first taste of solo Joe since 2011’s Fastlife , which he dropped after the Jonas Brothers went on hiatus. The group reunited in 2019 and dropped albums Happiness Begins that year and The Album in 2023. He also dropped an album with his band DNCE in 2016, and joined Khalid for the Devotion soundtrack’s “Not Alone ” in 2022, and released several singles for film soundtracks before then.

The new single also arrives just a few months after he filed for divorce from actress Sophie Turner after four years of marriage. The former couple have undergone a contested divorce, including a now-dropped lawsuit from Turner.
