The tradition of children soliciting treats from neighbors during Halloween is an inherently unpredictable affair. However, approaching the residence of a celebrity, one particularly named Michael Jordan , requires an additional measure of courage. Hollywood actor Brett Gelman demonstrated such audacity during his childhood. Upon arriving at the six-time Finals MVP’s doorstep, not only were Gelman and his friends received in a startling manner, but the gift they received was far from what they expected.
Gelman and his friends got a different type of gift from MJ
During Jordan’s early years with the Chicago Bulls, despite having amassed incredible wealth and fame, he maintained a level of accessibility to the public. Gelman, who resided in the same neighborhood as the 6’6” shooting guard, summoned the courage to approach Jordan’s residence for Halloween treats, accompanied by his friends.
Contrary to the expectations of being greeted by a butler, the group was astonished to find Mike himself answering the door. While the children, understandably nervous, managed to request for treats, Jordan’s response was entirely unanticipated.
"He just nods to us, walks to the bowl that he's got on his table in the foyer," Brett said . "And gave us Big Mac coupons! Free Big Mac coupons!"
While the kids could have cherished that once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to chat with the arguable GOAT, MJ did not entertain them for long and abruptly closed the door in their faces.
"We were like, 'Thank you so much,' " Gelman added. " And he was like, 'Happy Halloween,' and then he slammed the door."

Brett had more memories of MJ
That wasn’t the only occasion the Stranger Things actor encountered the Bulls legend in person. He also recounted an instance from his school days when he saw Jordan driving behind his school bus in his iconic ‘Air One’ car. Although the children were thrilled to see their idol, MJ did not acknowledge them and drove past without any interaction.
Evidently, despite Brett’s opportunities to get acquainted with the Bulls’ shooting guard, Jordan showed the least interest in engaging with him or the other kids.
While these encounters might seem underwhelming, they left a lasting impression on Gelman and his friends, illustrating the enigmatic and unpredictable nature of His Airness. Despite the brief and brusque interactions, the memories remain a unique and cherished part of Gelman's childhood.
