CALDWELL PARISH, La. (KTVE/KARD) — According to the Caldwell Parish Sheriff’s Office Facebook page, they are warning residents of a phone scam on Thursday, July 18, 2024.

Officials say that callers will tell the person answering the phone that they have missed Jury Duty and owe a cash fine to avoid arrest. CPSOs state that this is an attempt to steal money and pressure victims to fall for the scam.

CPSOs inform residents that they will never ask anyone over the phone to pay via CashApp, debit, or credit card using a “kiosk” for the transaction.

In addition, those who have been a victim of this SCAM or similar scams should contact CPSOs at (318) 649 – 2345.
