Summer and ice cream go hand-in-hand. Afterall, there is nothing as refreshing as an ice-cold treat straight from the freezer. Unless that is, you get listeria from it. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) just released a list of 13 ice cream brands that have been recalled for their potential to infect consumers with this bacterial infection with potentially deadly consequences. While no illnesses have been reported at this time, erring on the side of caution, the FDA recommends you toss the tubs and hit up the point of purchase for a refund. Be sure to check the complete recall list here for specific lots and plant codes to verify your product was — or wasn’t — included in the recall.
