The Boys Season 4 has come to an end after the airing of the eighth and final episode, and the viewers want to know what happens at the end. The Amazon Prime series has garnered a reputation for being unpredictable, despite being based on an existing source material. Accordingly, the fans have every reason to wonder whether their favorite characters survive the fourth season finale .

Here is everything that happens at the end of The Boys Season 4 Episode 8.

What happens at the end of The Boys Season 4 Episode 8?

In The Boys Season 4 Episode 8, Homelander reveals on live TV that Victoria Neuman is a Supe, causing massive upheaval in the country. The shape-shifting Supe almost succeeds in killing Robert Singer while pretending to be Annie, but Hughie realizes the truth at the last minute. The real Annie manages to free herself and arrives in time to kill the shape-shifter.

Meanwhile, Mallory tells Ryan the truth about everything in a desperate effort to convince him to stand against Homelander. This includes how he was conceived and the fact that Homelander let everyone on Flight 37 die. Ryan refuses, and while trying to leave, he seemingly kills Mallory by accident. When Victoria realizes that Homelander intends to make her his puppet after she becomes the President and she and her daughter will never be safe, she reaches out to Hughie and the Boys for help. Although the Boys accept this, a freshly disillusioned Butcher arrives and kills Victoria with tendrils coming out of his chest. When he leaves, Butcher takes the Supe-killing virus that Frenchie harvested from Kimiko’s severed leg.

As Homelander laments over how everything has fallen apart, Sister Sage appears and declares that they have won. It is revealed that the shape-shifter secretly filmed Singer speaking about assassinating Victoria, and that leads to his arrest. Speaker of the House Calhoun becomes President and swears allegiance to Homelander. Sage reveals to a stunned Homelander that this was her plan all along and announces that there is a phase two of the said plan.

Calhoun declares martial law and deputizes hundreds of Supes to report directly to Homelander. In the mid-credits scene, Calhoun takes Homelander to the facility where Soldier Boy is kept.

The fate of The Boys at the end of Season 4 finale explained

After Homelander takes control of the US government, he sends the deputized Supes and Vought troops after the Boys and the Starlighters. The eponymous group tries to flee the country, but most of them are found and apprehended.

    Hughie Campbell

Hughie and Annie try to flee by road, and the latter gets her powers back. However, Cindy, who was held at the Sage Grove Center in season 2, drops a boat in front of them resulting in a crash. Vought troops subsequently take Hughie into custody.

    Frenchie

Frenchie and Kimiko try to escape by sea but encounter Sam Riordan and Cate Dunlap. The latter uses her power of telepathic persuasion to subdue Frenchie, so the Vought troops can take him away.

    Kimiko

Sam Riordan easily overpowers Kimiko and apprehends her for Homelander. Kimiko tries to call out to Frenchie as he is taken away, but he is already under Dunlap’s control.

    Mother’s Milk / MM / Marvin T. Milk

Marvin tries to escape by air, but his arch nemesis Love Sausage appears and knocks him out at the airport. We can presume that he has been taken to a heavily guarded facility along with the other members of the Boys.

    Billy Butcher

The finale doesn’t show any Supe confronting Butcher. Instead, he drives through a desolate road while hallucinating that Joe Kessler is in the backseat. He has one dosage of the virus and likely intends to use it on Homelander.

    Annie January/Starlight

When Cindy confronts her, Annie uses her powers to fly away after Hughie silently tells her to do so. She is the only member of the Boys besides Butcher who is still on the loose.
