While she is known by many official titles, including Her Royal Highness, the Princess of Wales , the Duchess of Rothesay, and the Countess of Chester, it seems that the UK’s future Queen once had a very different moniker.

Revealed during a visit back to one of the schools she had attended as a child in Berkshire, a county in southeast England in the UK , the Duchess of Cornwall let slip that her childhood nickname was 'Squeak', after a beloved family pet. She said: "I was nicknamed Squeak just like my guinea pig."

She continued: ”There was one called Pip and one called Squeak because my sister was called Pippa and I was Squeak”. And while ‘Squeak’ was a nickname that didn’t stick around for very long, there have been a few more since then that have stood the test the time.

While christened by her parents as Catherine, the UK press has long referred to her as ‘Kate’ instead. Many cruelly referred to her as ‘Waity Katie’ while she waited for William to propose, which he did in 2010.

In his memoir Spare, Prince Harry referred to his sister-in-law as an abbreviated ‘Cath’. At the same time, according to royal expert, Ingrid Steward, her husband William, the future UK monarch, also had a loving nickname for his future Queen: “Kate was Babykins,” she was quoted as saying.

Royal author, Omid Scobie, claimed in his book, Endgame, that another nickname - 'Katie Keen' - was born due to her “pliable” and “coachable” approach to royal duties. The character was created by Bill Woggon, appearing in several comic book series (reportedly favored by Meghan Markle) published by Archie Comics since 1945. Scobie also said the nickname had become a “popular refrain on social media for several years.”

But her favorite moniker of them all might simply be 'Mama' and 'Mummy', as the future queen is known to her three children, Prince George (10), Princess Charlotte (8) and Prince Louis (5).
