EVANSVILLE − It's time for a summer tradition in Evansville: the Vanderburgh County 4-H Fair is next week.
The 103rd installment of the fair will feature events, food, rides and much more at the fairgrounds at 201 E. Boonville-New Harmony Road.
Here's what you need to know before you go.
When is the Vanderburgh County 4-H Fair?
The fair will be held from Monday, July 22 through Saturday, July 27.
Gates open at 3 p.m. on Monday and will stay open until 8 p.m. From Tuesday through Saturday, the gates will be open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Grounds closing time will be announced daily 30 minutes before closing.
Tickets can be purchased and picked up at the 4-H Center Office, all Schnucks stores, and the 4-H Extension Office in Darmstadt.
What are food options looking like this year?
The website lists 14 options, with vendors selling cheese sticks, ice cream, hotdogs, chili, lemon shake-ups and more. Other items include walking tacos, taffy and ribbon fries.

Carnival rides at the 4-H Fair
Rides open on Monday at 5 p.m. and will close at 11 p.m. From Tuesday to Friday, rides will be open from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. On Saturday, rides will open at 11 a.m. and shut down at the close of the fair.
Single-ride tickets are $3 per ticket, $27 for 10 tickets or $52 for 20 tickets. Armbands for unlimited rides are $25 per night.
What entertainment will be featured this year?
Events for Vanderburgh County Fair include:
- Annual concert: Wednesday at 8 p.m. with special guest Parmalee, an up-and-coming country band from North Carolina.
- Motocross dirt bike racing: Monday at 6:30 p.m.
- Rodeo: Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
- Antique machinery parade: Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
- Farmers' pull: Thursday at 6 p.m., including hot farm, semi, and antique divisions.
- Pro Pulling League professional tractor pull: Friday at 6:30 p.m.
- Demolition derby: Saturday at 7 p.m.
- Talent contest: Friday at 7 p.m. for cocal and instrumental, Saturday at noon and 3 p.m. for junior and senior divisions in dance, novelty, and tumbling.
Other activities include an ice cream crank-off, charcuterie competition, kids' corner activities, livestock, watermelon seed-spitting contest and more.
How much will the fair cost?
Daily admission is $10 per person or a week pass is $40 per person. Children ages 9 and under are free throughout the week.
Floor admission for the annual concert is $10. A pit pass costs $5.
