MANSFIELD — Time goes by in a flash.

For most of the Richland 200 athletes coming in at Nos. 71-80, its now or never. Their senior years are already here and they have one year left to make the most of it even though it feels like they just got started.

Let's meet the next batch of Richland 200 athletes.

    71. Karter Goon, Crestview

Goon played well beyond his years on the football field for the Cougars in 2023. He was a second team All-Northwest District and second team All-Firelands Conference player after excelling on both sides of the ball. Defensively, he had 81 tackles, seven tackles for loss, one sack and two quarterback pressures. Offensively, he was one of the most productive tight ends in Richland County with 21 catches for 364 yards and three touchdowns. He also made an impact on the basketball court where his role is about to grow immensely. It will be a special junior year for Goon.

    72. Ayden Reymer, Crestview

Speaking of those who had breakout sophomore years, Reymer enjoyed one of the best sophomore football seasons of anyone in Richland County. He was a second team All-Northwest District and second team All-Firelands Conference player last year when he ran for 1,395 yards and 15 touchdowns in his first season as the starting running back. He also had a nice track season qualifying for state in the 4x400 relay. With two years left, watch for Reymer to leave quite a legacy at Crestview.

    73. Nic Eyster, Shelby

Eyster started off a great junior year with honorable mention All-Northwest District and second team All-Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference honors in football when he caught 27 passes for 457 yards and five touchdowns and recorded 38 tackles and five interceptions. He then earned first team All-District 9 and first team All-MOAC honors in baseball after he hit .338 with 25 hits, four doubles, a triple, nine RBIs and 26 runs scored to go with his 8-3 record on the mound with a 3.30 earned run average and 42 strikeouts. He will be back as the ace of the pitching staff and will also be the No. 1 receiver in football which should lead to one heck of a senior season.

    74. Elaina Seif, Ontario

Seif did a lot of everything for the Ontario girls soccer team in 2023. She scored 13 goals and handed out 10 assists which helped her earn first team All-District and first team All-MOAC honors. A team captain, Seif will be tasked with being the senior leader of a team that has some of the highest expectations of any team coming into the 2024-25 school year. With a leader like Seif, the Warriors should have no problem achieving their goals.

    75. Chesnie Patton, Crestview

Patton dominated the softball diamond in 2024. She earned honorable mention All-Northwest District and first team All-Firelands Conference honors and was named the FC Pitcher of the Year and the News Journal Small School Pitcher of the Year. But she did it all. She hit .438 with 35 hits, 34 RBIs and four home runs. In the circle, she went 10-3 with a 1.09 earned run average and 108 strikeouts. The Cougars were right in the race for the Firelands Conference championship in 2024, but with Patton and a plethora of talent coming back in 2025, they have to be considered the favorite to take home the title.

    76. Cameron Kuhn, Madison

Kuhn had a junior year to remember. First, he earned honorable mention All-Northwest District and second team All-Ohio Cardinal Conference in football when he threw for 970 yard and seven touchdowns. He then earned honorable mention All-District 6 and honorable mention All-OCC honors in basketball when he averaged 8.4 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.1 assists. He followed that up with a second team All-District 9 and first team All-OCC baseball season where he hit .368 with 35 hits, 10 doubles, two home runs, 13 RBIs and 19 runs scored while catching 165 ⅓ innings. A rare three-sport athlete, Kuhn is about to have an even more memorable senior year.

    77. Ava Bowman, Shelby

Bowman had a tough junior season. She was an All-Ohioan in track as a sophomore, but a hamstring injury prevented her from repeating. She did run at the district track meet and helped the Whippets 4x100 team eventually qualify for state, but she wasn't able to run at state because of the hamstring injury. But, she will be back in 2024-25 healthier than ever and ready to return to form. She will start off with volleyball season where she played a key role in helping Shelby make it to the district tournament last year. She hopes to do it again.

    78. Bella Carver, Shelby/79. Annie Mahek, Shelby

Carver and Mahek are a package deal. The duo became the first female doubles tennis teammates from Shelby to qualify for the state tournament in 30 years last fall when they took third at the district tournament to punch their ticket. They ended up dropping their first match at state preventing them from All-Ohio honors, but still, to do something that hasn't been seen in three decades is pretty impressive. They are both back this year as seniors and with the state experience under their belts, they should get back and be able to make a little noise this time.

    80. Qwintin Howard, Crestview

Howard put together a memorable freshman wrestling season as he was one of just two state qualifiers for the Cougars in 2023-24. At 126 pounds, Howard went 1-2 at state dropping his first match before picking up a win in his second and falling in his third to finish 31-21 on the season. It was quite a start to a promising career as he comes in with some very high expectations over the next three years.
