    Restaurant inspections from Monroe County, July 8-14

    These establishments in Monroe County were inspected between July 8 and 14, according to Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture records .

    The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture provides this disclosure: "Please remember that any inspection is a 'snapshot' of the day and time of the inspection. An inspection conducted on any given day may not be representative of the overall, long-term cleanliness of an establishment. Also, at the time of the inspection, violations are recorded but are often corrected on site prior to the inspector leaving the establishment."

    Out of compliance

    Camp Dina: 355 Bangor Mountain Road, Stroudsburg

    Inspected July 9. Jurisdiction: Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture. Violations: 16

    Inspector determined the person in charge did not demonstrate adequate knowledge of food safety. Inspector observed an open employee's beverage container was observed in the kitchen area; a scoop being stored in the ice machine with the handle touching and/or buried beneath the ice; foods stored directly on the floor in the dry storage area and walk-in cooler, rather than 6 inches off the floor as required; no available sanitizer test strips or test kit to determine appropriate sanitizer concentration; and chlorine concentration in the sanitizing solution of the 3-bay warewash sink was 200 ppm, rather than 50-100 ppm as required. Observed a black mold-like substance on the interior surfaces and around the ice chute; a buildup of old food residue and rust on the blade of the manual can opener; an employee had taken a food safety training program but it was not an ANSI/CFP accredited Certified Food Manager program; the handwash sink in the kitchen area was blocked by equipment and not accessible at all times; and multiple areas of peeling paint and hanging pieces of drywall from the kitchen ceiling. Observed a gap in the receiving door not protecting against the entry of insects, rodents and other animals, and the door was not self-closing and/or was being propped open; soap unavailable at the handwash sink in the kitchen area; an empty paper towel dispenser at the handwash sink in the kitchen area; a buildup of dust on the fan guard in a walk-in cooler; working containers in the kitchen area, used for storing chemicals/cleaners taken from bulk supplies, not marked with the common name of the chemical; and a working container of cleaner/sanitizer stored above or on the same shelf with food, equipment, and/or single-service articles in the kitchen area.

    Stroudsmoor Bakery & Café: 125 Broad St., Stroudsburg

    Inspected July 10. Jurisdiction: Stroudsburg Borough. Violations: 4

    Inspector observed time/temperature control for safety foods held at 46 degrees in the refrigerated display unit rather than 41 or below as required (foods not at proper temperature were discarded); loose/damaged rubber gaskets on the door of the walk-in cooling unit; dirt/dust on the sides of equipment between the pizza oven and adjacent equipment; and broken floor tiles in walk-in freezer.

    Pocono Valley Resort: 300 Camp Akiba Road, Reeders

    Inspected July 10. Jurisdiction: Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture. Violations: 4

    Inspector observed the quaternary ammonia concentration in the sanitizing solution of the three-bay warewash sink was in excess of 400 ppm, rather than 200-400 ppm as stated on the manufacturer’s use directions; dirty knives in the wall-mounted knife holder, which also had a buildup of old food and old food residue; water leaking at the drainage pipe and faucet of the three-compartment sink; and a buildup of dust and dirt on the produce, dairy and staging walk-in coolers.

    The Goat on Main: 500 Main St., Stroudsburg

    Inspected July 12. Jurisdiction: Stroudsburg Borough. Violations: 4

    Inspector observed an accumulation of dirt, food residue and grease on non-food contact surfaces of equipment in the kitchen area; no single-use towels, continuous towels or air-drying device at the handwash sinks in the bar and kitchen areas (corrected); no signage reminding employees to wash hands before returning to work in the men's and women's restrooms; and mops not being hung to air dry.

    Fu Lay: 502 Main St., Stroudsburg

    Inspected July 12. Jurisdiction: Stroudsburg Borough. Violations: 4

    Inspector observed filters in the ventilation hood had an accumulation of grease; damaged rubber door gaskets on walk-in cooler and walk-in freezer; an accumulation of grease and food debris on non-food contact surfaces of equipment in wok table and an accumulation of food debris and mold on shelving in the walk-in cooler; and an accumulation of grease and food debris on the floor under and behind wok table.

    No violations

    These facilities each had zero violations.

    Ten temporary food stands at Pocono Raceway, inspected July 11 by the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture, had no violations.
