The Better Business Bureau is warning job seekers of potential identity fraud scams perpetrated nationally by a fraudulent Idaho-based reshipping company called Intelligent Post.

The business, which had its registration dissolved in 2023 but continues operating online, contacts job seekers through career websites such as Indeed with offers for well-paying remote jobs, the BBB said.

People are then asked to provide personal information, including photos of government-issued IDs, which are used to create false tax returns or open fraudulent credit accounts, the BBB said.

Intelligent Post also operates as Intel Post, Intelpost LLC, Intell Post Shipping Company and Intelligent Logistics.

The BBB also has received reports of Intelligent Post taking money from people. The company has received 47 scam tracker reports and eight complaints in the past 12 months. Two of those reports were made by Oregonians, both of whom were under the age of 35.

“We urge anyone who has been negatively impacted by Intelligent Post or similar scams to report their experience,” Dené Joubert, investigations manager of BBB Great West and Pacific, said in a news release.

The BBB encourages job seekers to verify job offers through company websites. It also advises against providing sensitive personal information to unknown entities.
