WWE released Olympic gold medalist Gable Steveson in May after he failed to prove himself in the pro wrestling ring. This was quite a surprise as it was thought WWE would give him plenty of opportunities due to his celebrity status and atheism. However, it now appears he may have had an attitude problem, as fellow Olympian Kurt Angle has revealed on his podcast that Steveson told him to his face that he wanted to be better than him in the ring, which the WWE Hall of Famer considered to be an “ assh*le thing to say.

“I met him, he’s like, ‘Hey, Kurt Angle, I just want to tell you, I respect your career, and I want to be just like you.’ I was like, ‘Oh, thank you, Gable.’ He goes, ‘You know what? No, I want to be better than you.’ I was like, holy sh*t., what an assh*le thing to say.”

The 24-year-old was a very controversial signing for WWE in 2021 due to the highly problematic allegations made against him two years earlier. Yet clearly, those in power at WWE believed that any fan backlash would be offset by his potential to become a star. Still, with him having failed to make an impact in the pro wrestling business, he is now signed with the Buffalo Bills despite never having never played football before.
