An asteroid around the size of the Washington Monument is set to flash by Earth this month. The so-named 2024 MK asteroid will come even closer than the orbit of the moon on June 29 and is estimated to be around 394 to 885 feet in diameter. The asteroid could pass some 50,000 miles closer than the moon, according to NASA's Center for Near Earth Object Studies.
