And they were thrown right into their first twist of the season, as they were given the decision to vote in another person to join them. Yes ! Big Brother 26 opened with a doozy of a twist, as each move-in group of eight was presented with the chance to vote in a 17th houseguest. That houseguest turned out to be false, an identity conceived by "BB AI." However, the players' choices as to whether to bring the houseguest in or not affected what happened next.
Those who voted to bring in a 17th houseguest played in a competition, where the winners received an "upgrade" to their game. Makensy Manbeck and Quinn Martin were the winners of their move-in groups, earning either the "Deep Fake HoH" or "America's Veto" powers. Those who chose not to were forced into their own competition, where the loser was given a disadvantage. Chelsie Baham and Cedric Hodges were the last-place finishers of their move-in groups, and were downgraded to "mascots" for the week. That means they cannot participate in any competitions or vote at the eviction.
