An amalgamation of Irish musicians are paying tribute to the late, great Shane MacGowan this summer.

The Sharon Shannon Big Band, led by legendary traditional Irish musician Sharon Shannon, is hoping to keep his spirit and music alive with the help of some of Ireland’s best known musicians .

The homage is especially meaningful as MacGowan previously toured with the Big Band, leaving what they call “an indelible mark on their musical journey.”

This summer, the Sharon Shannon Big Band will be joined by Imelda May, Mundy, Dan McCabe, Camille O’Sullivan, Liam O’Maonlai, and former Pogue, Cait O' Riordan. The collaboration will perform on multiple occasions at festivals throughout Ireland, including Forest Fest at Emo, and Revival Festival.

In a release, Sharon Shannon wrote, "I miss Shane dearly and I'm truly honored to have been friends with him and to have played and toured with him… Sadly, we lost Shane but with full blessings from Shane's sister Siobhán and his widow Victoria , we are putting this tribute together now.”
