    Nationwide computer outage has local impacts

    DMV Impacts: Services affected

    (COLORADO) — The Colorado Division of Motor Vehicles said due to the CrowdStrike incident the department was experiencing outages that are impacting most services.

    The DMV said impacted services include but are not limited to:

    • Online DMV services
    • MV Express Kiosks
    • Driver license and ID card services at state and county driver’s license offices
    • County Motor Vehicle Office services
    • DMV call centers

    The DMV said there is no timeline for when services will be restored but the DMV will provide updates on its social media pages and website .

    Colorado State Patrol: CAD System impacted

    The Colorado State Patrol (CSP) has been impacted by the ongoing Microsoft/Crowdstrike outage.

    According to CSP, the most significant impact with their Computer Aided Dispatching (CAD) system. The Colorado State Patrol has created manual workarounds to administrative processes to capture the current workload while CAD is unavailable

    Emergency services are not being interrupted. Agency radios and phones are fully operational. If needed, call 911, CSP is available.

    COS Aiport Impacts

    Colorado Springs Airport (COS) said the outage has impacted flights globally and travelers should contact their airline directly for any changes in flight status before coming to the airport for any planned travel.

    At around 8:30 a.m. COS said normal flight operations have resumed but still encouraged travelers to check their flight status with their airline as some flights have been impacted.

    Pueblo Impacts: Pueblo County, PFD says expect delays in emergency situations

    Pueblo County and the Pueblo Fire Department (PFD) announced it is also experiencing IT issues due to the global Crowdstrike and Microsoft Windows failure.

    Pueblo County government will be closed for the remainder of Friday, July 19 due to “multiple IT issues.”

    Thanks to a redundancy plan, the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) communication center was able to take over for the City of Pueblo and route 911 calls for the Pueblo Police Department and PFD to maintain efficiency and communication.

    While the fire department said 911 would remain the primary source of reporting, individuals should expect some delays as the global issue is being resolved.

    At 8:30 a.m. PFD said its communications center was back to normal operations.

    PCSO said by 8:15 a.m. service was restored to the Pueblo County Sheriff’s and Pueblo City communication centers. As of 9:30 a.m. 200 of the county’s 2,500 computers had been restored.

    Colorado Springs Impacts: CSFD, CSPD Comms Center down due to IT issues

    According to CSFD and CSPD , Emergency Communications have been returned to normal function as of about 1 p.m. on Friday.

    The Colorado Springs Fire Department (CSFD) and Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) said a global failure related to cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike and Microsoft Windows impacted the 911 Comms Center on Friday, July 19.

    CSFD posted to social media a little after 5 a.m. on Friday that due to the error, all computers in the Comms Center were down impacting CSFD and CSPD as both are run out of the same dispatch center.

    CSFD said the computer issue impacted Colorado Springs at around 10:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 18 and City I.T. is working to address the issue.

    While the comm center is experiencing technical issues, first responders are continuing to respond to 911 calls and regular patrols remain active in the city. CSFD wants the community to still call 911 for any life-threatening situation or crime in progress.

    CSFD wanted to emphasize that 911 calls are still being received and fire crews are being called to alerts. CSPD said it was on Priority Dispatch and Accident alert status and is asking the public to call 911 during an emergency, all other non-emergency situations or crimes should be reported online.

    Drivers involved in serious crashes that involved death or serious injuries requiring medical attention, or if alcohol or impairment is suspected should call 911. However, if all drivers are present with a valid driver’s license, vehicle registration, and insurance information and there is no property damage or injury, you can report the crash within 72 hours online.
