Communities In Schools (CIS) of Georgia in Troup County is gearing up for the upcoming 2024-25 school year. To aid with their efforts to support local students and their families, CIS has announced the launch of a Back-To-School Wish List Campaign. The program is designed to ensure that every student is fully prepared and equipped for the classroom with the help of the community.

CIS has created Amazon wish lists to address specific essential school supplies that students in Troup County need to succeed. From notebooks and backpacks to shoes and hygiene supplies, every item donated helps support a student’s education and well-being. CIS is inviting community members, supporters and partners to visit cisga.org/backtoschool to access and fulfill these wish lists.

“School may be out for summer, but our work continues,” said Leyla Compani, Chief Philanthropy Officer at CISGA. “Preparing for the new school year is crucial for our students, and with the support of our community, we can ensure they start off on the right foot. Every donation makes a difference in a student’s life.”

Tabitha Lewis-Coverson, Executive Director of Communities In Schools of Georgia Troup County said the individual wish lists have been created for several Troup County schools to address needs identified by CIS site coordinators.

Schools with individual wish lists include Berta Weathersbee Elementary, Callaway Elementary, Callaway Middle, Clearview Elementary, Ethel Kight Elementary, Franklin Forest Elementary and LaGrange High.

Many of the items on the lists are specific needs for the schools but some of the items are targeted for the needs of at-risk students to help keep them in school, said Lowell Fuchs, Director of Development for Communities In Schools of Georgia.

The initial campaign of wish lists is focused on back-to-school items, so CIS is asking people to consider purchasing items through the program by the end of August. Fuchs said the wish lists will be updated later in the year to address additional specific student needs such as clothing or winter coats.

Donating to the program through Amazon wish lists couldn’t be easier. Just purchase items through the website and Amazon handles the rest delivering the items to the specific schools.

“Communities In Schools of Georgia works directly inside schools, building relationships that empower students to stay in school and achieve in life. Supporters play an essential part in our mission to provide students with access to the resources needed to thrive in school and beyond,” Fuchs said.

To contribute, visit www.cisga.org/cisgawishlists and select a school to donate these much-needed wish list items.
