‘Like a Wrestling Crowd’: Hulk Hogan Tells Fox He Hit the ‘Gas Pedal’ During Wild RNC Speech

Hulk Hogan told Fox & Friends he hit the “gas pedal” during his Republican National Convention speech where the wrestler tore his shirt off to reveal a Donald Trump campaign shirt.

Hogan joined Fox & Friends on Friday morning after his speech and revealed he essentially ignored a prepared speech on a teleprompter because the RNC crowd felt “like a wrestling crowd.”

“The energy in the room was crazy and it actually felt like a wrestling crowd. I felt them rumbling so I started pushing the gas pedal down and the more I pushed the gas pedal down, the more they responded,” he said.

Hogan has been vocal about his support for Trump, but the wrestler argued he’s kept mostly silent on politics and it was the attempted assassination of the former president that convinced him to take the stage at the RNC. The wrestler joked he now considers himself “Dr. Hogan” and he’d like to fix “Trump Derangement Syndrome.”

“The thing that really pushed me over the edge with this thing because I was one of those people that was silent and I didn’t speak and I call those people cowards, and I sat around for years and years and years and watched what was happening to our country and when they did that to Trump, when they tried to kill him, I said, that was it,” he said.

Hogan told Fox people have been pushing him to “get into politics” and he did not say whether he wanted to, but did endorse a flat tax when asked about the career change.

“It would fix everything,” he said.

During his speech, Hogan took a signature phrase “Hulkamania” and turned it into “Trumpamania.”

“I said, ‘Let Trumpamania run wild, brother! Let Trumpamania rule again! let Trumpamania make America great again!” he told the crowd.
