Southampton have secured the future of Adam Armstrong with a contract extension until 2027.

Russell Martin has placed his faith in Armstrong to score goals in the Premier League in 2024/25 after bagging 24 EFL Championship goals in their promotion campaign last season.

Armstrong scored in the playoff semifinals and final, to drag the Saints back to the big time, and Martin has rewarded him with a new deal at the St. Mary's Stadium.

"It’s amazing. Coming off last season, having that buzz, coming back into preseason and getting started again brings back memories, so I’m delighted" Armstrong told an interview with the club website .

"I’m looking forward to it, we're back in the Premier League, it’s the best league in the world. It’s just about enjoying it and hopefully pushing on."

Armstrong scored just four Premier League goals across his two previous top-flight seasons with Southampton, prior to their relegation in 2023, and the 27-year-old will be aiming to learn lessons that.

Martin is expected to bolster his squad further in the weeks ahead, with Adam Lallana already completing a return to the club, alongside a move to make Flynn Downes' loan from West Ham United into a permanent deal.

Brazilian defender Wellington Santos is rumored to be Martin's next target , if a deal can be wrapped up with Sao Paulo, as the 38-year-old coach prepares for his first taste of Premier League management.
