( KRON ) – The worldwide technology outage has disrupted airlines, banks, media outlets and numerous companies including Starbucks.

An Oakland Starbucks employee confirmed with KRON4 reporter Michael Thomas that the coffee shop is only taking cash as payment. Other Starbucks locations can use credit and debit cards to make payments.

Customers have reported on X that they are also experiencing issues ordering from the mobile app. "Order ahead not available" populates on the mobile app for a San Franciscan customer to all nearby locations.

The power outage stemmed from Cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike. The company said Friday that the issue believed to be behind the outage was not a security incident or cyberattack. CrowdStrike said in an emailed statement that the company "is actively working with customers impacted by a defect found in a single content update for Windows hosts."
