Tom Sandoval is back to playing the blame game. Just one day after the Vanderpump Rules star sued his ex-girlfriend Ariana Madix , he announced that he dropped the lawsuit.

Sandoval made headlines on Wednesday (July 17) when he filed a lawsuit against Madix for the way she found out about his affair with Rachel “Raquel” Leviss in March 2023. He claimed in the court docs that she accessed his phone and allegedly distributed NSFW videos of him and Leviss without his “authorization or permission.”

The reality star quickly came under fire from both social media users and Madix, whose attorney slammed the “abhorrent” suit.

By Thursday night (July 18), Sandoval revealed to his Instagram followers that he had dropped the suit, casting full blame on his attorney for allegedly misleading him.

“Late Tuesday afternoon, my attorney, Matt Geragos, whose advice I trusted, called me about the Cross-Complaint in the lawsuit against myself and Ariana,” Sandoval wrote . “He assured me that the action was customary and strictly preventative in these types of lawsuits and urged me to agree to it.”

“The words ‘New Lawsuit’ or ‘Suing’ were not articulated to me,” he continued. “I should’ve done more of my due diligence on the matter. Upon realizing what this action actually means, I have removed Matt Geragos from my legal team. In no way am I suing Ariana. The action against Ariana brought on my behalf is being removed.”

Sandoval concluded, “I hold no ill will or vindictiveness toward Ariana. Now, by removing both the Cross-Complaint and the attorney who recommended it, I hope to get through this case quickly, so that Ariana and I can both finally MOVE ON with our lives.”

An attorney representing Madix released a statement to Entertainment Weekly following news that Sandoval dropped his complaint.

“We are pleased that Mr. Sandoval has stated his intention to dismiss his cross-complaint against Ms. Madix,” they said. “This entire lawsuit against Ms. Madix is without merit, and it is only a matter of time before it is dismissed completely.”

In February, Leviss filed a lawsuit against both Sandoval and Madix accusing them of eavesdropping, revenge porn and intentional infliction of emotional distress. Madix vehemently denied sharing the sexually explicit videos of Leviss she found on Sandoval’s phone with anyone else, while Sandoval accused Leviss of filing the suit for fame and to “rebrand herself as the victim.”
