WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Sedgwick County says the tag offices are closed this morning due to global technical issues. The county will anno unce on social media when they reopen.

Sedgwick County isn’t the only county impacted. Reno County reports that the State of Kansas motor vehicle c omputer system is down. The state does not currently have an estimated fix.

Sedgwick County reports that the Treasurer’s office is open but can only process payments by check or cash for customers with their bills in hand.

The global technology outage on Friday grounded flights and knocked banks and hospital systems offli ne. It has impacted companies and services around the world and highlighted dependence on software from a handful of providers.

Some flights delayed and canceled out of Wichita due to internet outage

Cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike said the issue believed to be behind the outage was not a security incident or cyberattack—and that a fix was on the way. The company said the problem occurred when it deployed a faulty update to computers running Microsoft Windows.
