    Local agencies and hospitals experience system outages due to global Crowdstrike problems

    ELMIRA, N.Y. ( WETM ) — Millions of people around the world have been impacted by a global IT outage on Friday that shut down servers and grounded flights. Here at home, government agencies and hospitals are seeing the impacts of the outages.

    According to Chemung County Executive Chris Moss, Various Chemung County departments are experiencing computer issues directly related to the worldwide outages involving Crowdstrike.

    Moss said that some offices are opening later on Friday as the county’s IT department works to address the situation.

    If you’re someone with an appointment at a county office on Friday, it’s recommended that you call the office before the appointment. Any questions can be directed to County Executive Moss at 607-737-2912.

    NYSEG is experiencing issues as a result of the CrowdStrike outages. In a post the company made on Facebook, NYSEG announced that users are unable to access several portions of the website, like MyAccount and Outage pages.

    NYSEG said that if you need to report an outage or check the status of a power outage, call 800-572-1131.

    Guthrie is another business experiencing mass system disruptions as a result of the global outage but wants patients to know that the hospitals can care for patients as all emergency departments are open.

    Guthrie said in a statement on Facebook that some patient services have been impacted, including:

    • For all clinic visits, patients should keep their appointments as scheduled unless contacted by their provider’s office.
    • Clinics are operating on paper downtime procedures, which can cause delays.
    • Elective surgeries at all hospitals are postponed, and patients will be contacted.

    Guthrie stated it will provide more updates on the outage as it navigates the event.

    Arnot Health told 18 News on Friday that most of the computer systems at Arnot facilities were not impacted, except for Outpatient Rehabilitation Services. Arnot Health said that those facilities are still accepting patients, and are using down-time procedures.
