Are you ready to be entertained?

It’s nonstop action during the Yamhill County Fair from July 31 through Aug. 3, from reasons to get your head bobbing to heart-stopping action.

    Music

On the musical front, a number of bands are set to take the stage during the four-day event, beginning July 31 with country western artists Olivia Harms and Terri Clark, country crooner Drake Milligan and country band 49 Winchester on Aug. 1, rapper Sir Mix-A-Lot on Aug. 3 and winding up with ‘90s pop rock sensation Smashmouth on Aug. 3.

Concerts have three levels of seating: Golden Circle Section A (first three rows of reserved seats), Section B (rows 4-15) and Reserved (guaranteed seat all night long and first come first served when arriving at the venue). Get tickets at tinyurl.com/2hx28ura.

    Rodeo

The popular rodeo is set for 6:15 p.m. July 31 through Aug. 2 in the Cascade Arena. Admission is free with fair entry. Seating and parking are limited, so get there early. Reserved seats are available online.

    Demolition derby

A demolition derby, described on the fair website as “a competition in which cars are driven into each other until only one is left running,” is set for the final night of the fair at 6 p.m. Aug. 3 in the rodeo arena. Admission comes with buying a ticket to the fair, but seating and parking are limited. Reserved seats are available online.

    Carnival rides

Death-defying stunts not your jam? It’s calmer at the carnival (maybe). The kids’ favorite, the Rainier Amusements carnival, will run all four days of the fair. Buy entrance bracelets at tinyurl.com/2hx28ura.

    American Idol talent contest

The American Idol Talent Contest is set for 11 a.m. Aug. 3 on the main stage of the fair. All talents of all ages are eligible to compete. In addition, one vocalist between the ages of 14 and 19 could move on to the Oregon State Fair for a chance to win an audition with American Idol. The performers will be judged by a senior talent producer for American Idol. Participation is limited to the first 20 participants preregistered at tinyurl.com/2nyjdun3.
