Paramount+ won’t be moving forward with another season of the live-action TV adaption of the video game Halo , after two seasons on the streaming platform.

In a statement to THR , Paramount+ says, “We are extremely proud of this ambitious series and would like to thank our partners at Xbox, 343 Industries and Amblin Television, along with showrunner and executive producer David Wiener, his fellow executive producers, the entire cast led by Pablo Schreiber as Master Chief and the amazing crew for all their outstanding work. We wish everyone the best going forward.”

343 Industries, the company in charge of the Halo series at large, also issued a statement. “We deeply appreciate the millions of fans who propelled the Halo series to be a global success and we remain committed to broadening the Halo universe in different ways in the future,” says 343 Industries. “We are grateful to Amblin and Paramount for their partnership in bringing our expansive sci-fi universe to viewers around the world.”

According to THR’s sources, however, Amblin, Xbox, and 343 are attempting to shop the series around, hoping to find a buyer to continue at least another series.

Early development on the Halo series started years ago, all the way back in 2013, before it officially started filming for Paramount in 2019. The first season premiered in March 2022 and was immediately met with mixed reception from both reviewers and fans. Our own review awarded the first season a 6.5/10, saying, “ Halo ambitiously builds a new world for TV, but its live-action universe suffers from a lack of polish despite some engaging action and a compelling Master Chief.”

The first season was led by showrunners Kyle Killen and Steven Kane, while David Wiener took over for the second. Pablo Schreiber starred as Master Chief, along with Natasha McElhone, Jen Taylor, Bokeem Woodbine, Shabana Azmi, Natasha Culzac, Olive Gray, Yerin Ha, Bentley Kalu, Kate Kennedy, Charlie Murphy, and Danny Sapani.

Both seasons of Halo are streaming on Paramount+.
