Irish city named among Europe's 'prettiest destinations in summer'

Ireland's capital city, Dublin, has been named as one of Europe's prettiest destinations to visit in summer in a new study. The study from Travelbag has analyzed Instagram hashtag data and Google search trends to reveal the most picturesque travel destinations to visit this summer .

They looked at 100 of the most popular cities around the world to find out which ones are most Instagrammable. Dublin made it into the top ten, taking the number six spot.

On Instagram, Dublin has over 23,000 Instagram posts using the hashtag #SummerinDublin and over 1,300 searches per month. It beat out some tough competition such as famous tourist destinations like Rome and Amsterdam.

The hashtag #SummerInDublin is included in the captions on photos of some of the most scenic spots around the city. Popular photographed locations include the Ha'Penney Bridge, the Forty Foot, and Howth Head Cliff Walk .

London took the top spot on the list, followed by Paris in second place. The full list of the most picturesque European cities, according to the study, is as follows:

5. Vienna
6. Dublin
7. Rome
8. Amsterdam
9. Munich
10. Copenhagen

On a global scale, New York was named the prettiest place to be for summer travelers. It racked up an impressive 36,773 Instagram posts dedicated to its summertime.

Following that on the list is Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. The global top ten is:

The hashtags that were analyzed were ‘#SummerIn{Location}’, and the search terms were ‘summer in {location}’. Popularity was ranked based on the number of times the hashtag relevant to each location is used, and the monthly average global search volume.
