Black Lab's Side-Eye Upon Realizing Mom Meant Camp and Not 'Glamp' Is Too Funny

It's summertime, which means that the outdoorsy people are going to be flocking to the outdoors. Campgrounds are overflowing, touristy-town grocery stores are barren, and dogs everywhere are either loving it or they're hating it with everything they have.

On Monday, July 15th, one family learned the hard way exactly what kind of dog they have in their family, and it wasn't what they thought. He may have been excited during the car ride, but once he realized he had to sleep on the literal ground, oh, no:

Eagle the Lab was absolutely not having it. Where's the air conditioner? The soft mattress? The fluffy pillow he almost certainly steals from his mom every night?

Eagle is a bit of a prince, if you didn't know. In his bio, his mom made sure to mention that he has emotional support stuffed toys that he likes to bring along to places; he probably brought one on this trip. A dog that has emotional support stuffed animals does not seem to be a dog that will love roughing it in the wild. What is he, an animal?

In all seriousness, Eagle is a Black Lab, and as much as he loves to be a glamorous king, he also really does love to be outside and he enjoys nature immensely. As long as he has his meals at the normal time and ample snacks, all is well - he even loves the water! He just doesn't really want to be outside in the nighttime, when he's supposed to be snug as a bug in a rug.

    Tips for Taking Dogs Camping

Whether your dog loves to camp or would rather glamp it up in a decked-out RV complete with WiFi so they can watch doggy YouTube videos, there may come a time when you need to take your dog on a camping trip. No matter what kind of dog you're bringing, there are some basics you'll want to have on hand:

    1. Food and water dishes.
      1. Food in a fully sealed container ( in case of bears ) and clean, purified water.
    2. Booties for if it gets hot or the terrain gets particularly jagged.
    3. An extra leash/harness.
      1. Lots of camping fanatics prefer waist or chest leashes so you don't have to hold on!
    4. At least one of their favorite toys.
    5. If possible, a portable white noise machine. Otherwise, you'll be up every time something goes bump in the night.
    6. A nice bed/pad for the dog to sleep on, preferably with an optional blanket.

If your dog has never been camping before, you should start slow; a few hours, a day, then work up from there. Too much too quickly can be overstimulating, especially for spoiled dogs like Eagle who are used to cushy living. That's one neutral camper!
