    When Middle Tennessee schools start the new year

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — With summer flying by, parents and students across Tennessee will soon be heading back to the classroom for the 2024-2025 school year.

    Most schools in Tennessee resume classes in August, but a few return in late July, meaning the summer is quickly winding down.

    Here are when most Middle Tennessee school districts will welcome students back.

    Trousdale County Schools

    • July 31 – Open House (abbreviated day)
    • Aug. 2 – School begins

    Dickson County Schools

    • Aug. 1 – First day

    Wilson County Schools

    • Aug. 2 – First day for students

    Bedford County Schools

    • Aug. 2 – Abbreviated day for students
    • Aug. 5 – First full day for students

    Hickman County Schools

    • Aug. 2 – Half day for students (10 a.m. dismissal)
    • Aug. 5 – First full day

    Smith County Schools

    • Aug. 2 – Half day for students
    • Aug. 5 – First full day

    Macon County Schools

    • Aug. 2 – Registration Day 8-10 a.m.
    • Aug. 6 – First day

    Maury County Schools

    • Aug. 5 – First day for students

    DeKalb County Schools

    • Aug. 5 – First full day for students

    Williamson County Schools

    • Aug. 5 – Half day for grades 1-12
    • Aug. 6 – First full day for grades 1-12

    Metro Nashville Public Schools

    • Aug. 6-7 – First full day for grades 1-12; Half day for Pre-K and K
    • Aug. 8 – First full day for all students

    Robertson County Schools

    • Aug. 6 – Half day for students

    Rutherford County Schools

    • Aug. 7 – Orientation day for students (2 hours)
    • Aug. 8 – First full day for students

    Cheatham County Schools

    • Aug. 7 – First day of school for grades 1-9 (10:45 a.m. dismissal)
    • Aug. 8 – First full day of school for grades 1-12

    Clarksville-Montgomery County Schools

    • Aug. 7 – Half day for students
