Prince Harry has been dealt a major setback in his Netflix deal as he failed to secure a coveted Emmy Award nomination .

The Duke of Sussex released his Heart of Invictus documentary last year which focused on the 2022 Invictus Games in The Hague. Heart of Invictus would have been eligible for an Emmy Award nomination , but missed out on several categories, including Outstanding Directing for a Documentary or Nonfiction Series.

The consideration period for this year's Emmy Awards spanned from June 1 2023 to May 31 2024. Heart of Invictus was released on August 30, 2023.

While Harry didn't receive a nomination, the following shows did; Albert Brooks: Defending My Life, Beckham, Girls State, The Greatest Night In Pop, Jim Henson Idea Man and Steve! (Martin) A Documentary In 2 Pieces.

Harry and his wife Meghan Markle signed an exclusive deal with Netflix back in 2020 after they stepped down from the Royal Family. The couple have faced varying success with the streaming giant and it's unclear if their contract will be renewed by the time it ends next year.

Meghan and Harry broke streaming records with their explosive Netflix docuseries, Harry & Meghan. However, the show failed to rank in the top 200 shows on Netflix shortly after the release.

When Harry released Heart of Invictus a few months later, it too flopped. Then, Meghan's animated series Pearl was quietly dropped by the streaming service after it failed to grab the attention of viewers.

Despite the worrying signs, Meghan and Harry are still locked into their Netflix contract for now and are believed to have two new projects in the pipeline. Harry is said to be working on a television show all about polo, while Meghan is focusing her attention on a show about cookery and gardening.

Meghan's lifestyle show will likely coincide with her new brand, American Riveria Orchard. The Duchess of Sussex announced her brand back in March, but is yet to release any products under it.
