Do you drive a Hyundai? If so, you’ll want to check and make sure your vehicle isn’t a part of this Hyundai recall. There are 54,647 vehicles involved. Specifically, this includes certain models of Genesis G70, Veloster N, Elantra N, and Kona N. The years of these vehicles span from 2019-2023. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), this recall is being made because of an increase in the risk of a crash.

But why is that possible? In summary, these vehicles run the risk of losing drive power from fuel pump failure. In other words , premature wearing of the valve “could allow excess fuel to enter the fuel pump and the air and fuel mixture can result in a reduction or loss of motive power at low speeds, increasing the risk of a crash.”

Thankfully, there have yet to be any reported crashes from this issue. Still, it’s very important to check if your vehicle is affected. With this in mind, there are a few signs to look out for — this includes having the MIL warning light come on, having a lack of power, and a rough idle or misfire. Plus, owners of these vehicles can expect to have letters mailed out to them, giving them an official notice of the recall, by September 9, 2024.

Is Your Hyundai Included in This Recall? Here’s What to Do

If you discover that your vehicle is a part of this recall, Hyundai offers a solution. All you have to do is go to your local dealer. Here, they’ll install an updated fuel control valve (FCV) plunger design and revised engine ECM software logic.

Another way to check if your vehicle has been recalled is by using the NHTSA’s database . Here, you can search by your vehicle’s identification number or VIN. Stay safe everyone !
