Dogs, like children, hate missing out on a good time. Even when they are completely exhausted, they will fight off heavy eyelids in an effort to know what’s happening. These futile attempts can be a priceless source of amusement for parents and us when it’s caught on tape.

Although this dog tried to remain present, a big day of fun made that problematic. Watch the adorable struggle to stay awake in this video shared on July 7:

If I had played fetch, hiked a mountain, gone shopping, and swam, I would be so tired I couldn’t fight off slumber. However, after Imola’s (@ thejiggleduo ) exhausting day, she has just enough left inside to stay awake. As her lids briefly closed over her gorgeous blue eyes, she may have taken a millisecond cat nap, but they were soon open once again. Talk about stamina! It’s tough to fight off that kind of sleepiness, especially in a moving car, when drifting off is so easy. It’s no wonder this gorgeous breed is often selected for herding animals on large farms. Not only do they have speed, intelligence, and energy, but they never quit. Imola is a perfect example of that notable characteristic!

This high-energy breed isn’t just good at herding; they are good at almost everything. They have an unmatched work ethic, which makes them perfect as search and rescue, therapy, and service dogs . Unsurprisingly, they are also quick to learn obedience and are exceptional when it comes to doing agility work as well. Their beautiful Merle coats come in blue and red, and their stunning eyes come in various shades. Many even have heterochromia , a condition where each eye is a different color.

Viewer @oppieaussie responded, “My eldest Aussie does this, and he is 14+. Our youngest is like, I’m tired. I will splat right here on the floor and take a quick nap! His Aussie card is in danger!” Ha! That is unusual for this active breed. Viewer @lorirosdahl remarked, “I love it when my two Aussies are sleeping. I tippy-toe around so they don’t wake up too early.” There’s much to be said about not waking a sleeping dog, especially an Aussie. Viewer @jackofallcrafts responded, “This is so true!!! They never turn off, and they’re always idling.” That appears to be true for this good girl!

The Australian Shepherd is the ideal choice if you’re looking for a companion who is always ready to go. This breed is always up for an adventure and will undoubtedly help to keep you more active than you’ve ever been before.
